Frequently Asked Questions

Is The Joy Collectors Club for everyone?

If you value play, curiosity, and joy, you’ll fit right in. Our members are typically mission-driven, curious, and community-oriented people. We welcome women, non-binary humans, feminist men, and anyone seeking experiences that don’t revolve around alcohol or transactional networking. Check out our vision, mission, values & member agreements. If they feel like a “hell yes!” then The Joy Collectors Club is for you.

Why is it called a “Club”?

Because it’s not just a one-off experience—it’s an invitation to be part of something bigger. The Joy Collectors Club is about creating a community that celebrates joy as a practice, not just a moment.

How is this different from a networking group?

Well, because “networking” in the traditional sense is not our goal here. Networking can feel transactional and exhausting. We flip the script by prioritizing connection through play and shared experiences. It’s not about exchanging business cards—it’s about being in your body, experiencing your own joy, and building relationships based on real, human connection.

Why call them “experiences” and not “events”?

Events are often highly orchestrated, high production things that you show up to. What this club offers is lightly curated experiences that require your full participation. They are “lightly curated” because we don’t over plan them. There are bumpers in place to keep everyone safe and having fun but there is also room for organic connection, to simply be in the moment, and get what you actually need (not what we think you need).

Where are experiences held?

Most events are hosted in the Twin Cities Metro area but we have big plans to expand to regional and even other states in the future.

How often do experiences take place?

We aim to host at least one event every month, with plans to expand to more frequent offerings as the community grows.

Do I have to be a member to join experiences?

As of right now, if you sign up for an experience, you’re in The Club! We are exploring different membership models and offerings as The Joy Collectors Club grows and we have more frequent experiences. Stay tuned! But for right now, experiences are open to all and you sign up for each individually.

What kinds of experiences does the club host?

Our events are diverse and geared towards multi-passionate humans interested in being interesting! Our experiences are for trying new things in the community (like sober-friendly disco roller skating) and fostering interests (like introvert-friendly hobby hours). We also have big things in mind like fundraising Joy for Good events that support organizations in our community doing important work. Check out our upcoming experiences.

Are experiences family-friendly?

The reality is, when you are so invested in someone else’s joyful experience, it is hard to stay present to your own. While most events are designed for adults, we plan to occasionally host family-friendly gatherings. These will be clearly marked on the calendar.

What if I’m not "extroverted” or might need a little space?

You’re in good company! Many of our experiences are designed with introverts in mind, offering low-pressure ways to connect and engage at your own pace. There is also full permission to take the quiet or space you need. It’s really a choose-your-own-adventure sort of thing.

Is the club accessible to people with disabilities?

We are committed to inclusivity and working to ensure our experiences and spaces are as accessible as possible. The reality is though, trying new things (like aerial yoga, cold plunging, or paddle boarding) might require some calculated bodily risk that may not feel appropriate for every body. We invite you to be discerning about what feels like the right “risk” for you. And we do aim to offer a variety of experiences and we are always open to your ideas and feedback. If you have specific needs, please reach out—we’d love to accommodate.

Do you offer refunds for events?

Refund policies vary depending on the experience due to community partnerships. Check the experience details or contact us with specific questions.
